Welcome to the Gulf Coast Orchid Society Buy, Sell, and Trade page. 

Like every forum on the internet, there must be some rules that everyone has to follow, in order to keep things from getting out of control.  Here is a list of the basic rules, though more will be added when necessary.  Most are common sense: 

1.  This group is set up for the purpose of buying, selling, or trading orchid plants, and orchid related material.  All attempts to use it for any other purpose or the hyjacking of threads, will be deleted, unless you have the explicit permission of the moderator.  The next step would be the removal of your name from membership. 

2.  No commercial sales of plants will be allowed.  However, commercial members may respond to specific requests from a 'wanted' thread. 

3.  No flaming or arguing will be tolerated, period.  If you have a problem with one of the members, please take it off line, or use your own e-mails to sort out your differences. 

4.  Please be specific about your offering.  Use 'For Sale', 'For Trade', 'Wanted', or similar titles so that respondants are clear about your intent.  Photos are encouraged, but lacking a picture, give the most complete description possible (ie, 4 pseudobulbs--two with leaves, or 6 inch pot--good root system), and describe the flower, as well as the plant in detail. 

5.  Buyer beware.  The GCOS will not be responsible for any problems between parties, be it mislabeling, pests, or misrepresentation.  Sellers who are disreputable, will be taken off the roster. 

6.  The moderators will have the final say in all matters. 

7.  The seller of any orchids or related material is responsible for a 10% surcharge, payable to the Gulf Coast Orchid Society for use to help sponser our speakers' program.  Trades are welcome, at no cost. 

For the protection of our members, we ask that you fill out a brief request for membership form.  This is to prevent access to those who may be inclined to cause problems.  Those who are not GCOS members should take a little time and give as much information about yourselves as you can, along with a phone number, or e-mail address.  All membership applications are subject to screening, to insure applicants are legitimate.
